The Home Town 10K
race terms. the short, honest version.
Last updated 2 August 2026. Claiming a bib means you have read and agree to these terms.
The Home Town 10K is a virtual event. You run it yourself, in your own home town, on public paths and roads. There is no closed course, no marshals, no aid stations and no supervision. You take part voluntarily and at your own risk.
Your health is your call
Running 10km is a real physical effort. By claiming a bib you confirm you are voluntarily choosing to take part and that you are not aware of any medical reason you should not. If you are unsure, talk to your doctor before race day. If you feel unwell, dizzy or injured at any point during your run, stop.
Your safety is your responsibility
- Pick a route you know and that is safe for running.
- Obey all road rules, traffic signals and local laws. This is not a closed course and other traffic does not know you are racing.
- Dress for your conditions, be visible in low light, and carry your phone if running alone.
- Weather, surfaces and terrain are whatever your home town serves up on the day. If conditions are dangerous where you are, do not run. You can log your run the following day and it still counts.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sparkies Running and its organisers are not liable for any injury, loss or damage you suffer arising from your participation in this event. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.
Under 18?
You are welcome, but a parent or guardian must be aware you are taking part and agree to these terms on your behalf.
Results, medals and fair play
- Results are based on activity you log in Sparkies during race weekend, ranked by 10k-equivalent time.
- Entries that are clearly not genuine runs can be excluded. GPS-verified runs may be given preference in close podium calls.
- Medals are digital and awarded to your Sparkies profile. Any physical prizes are at the organiser's discretion.
- The organiser's decisions on results and awards are final. It is a community run, not the olympics: be a good sport.
Entry
Entry is free. Your registration (bib claim) is personal to you and your Sparkies account. The organiser may adjust event details (including the date, in exceptional circumstances) with notice in the app.
